How does Perfect Skn Laser Tattoo removal system work?

The Q-switched Nd. Yag laser delivers a high powered beam of laser light in an extremely short pulse which are the most suitable lasers for tattoo removal treatment. The beam of laser light passes through the top layer of skin and is absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, breaking them down into smaller pieces, enabling your natural immune system to absorb and disperse the ink. The tattoo begins to fade over a series of treatments.

How many treatments will it take to remove a tattoo?

You could have between 4 and 8 treatments depending on the amount and type of ink used and the depth of the ink in the skin. Treatment should be on average 6 to 8 weeks apart.

Can all tattoos be removed?

Perfect Skn Laser Tattoo removal system can remove most tattoos sucessfully. Green ink is the most difficult to remove and additional treatments may be needed.

How is treatments carried out?

The skin is cleaned and then the laser is passed over the tattoo releasing quick pulses of light. A 'clicking' noise is heard as the ink particles shatter. During treatment protective eye wear is provided. After treatment a soothing antiseptic lotion and light dressing is applied.

Is it painful?

Most patients describe the sensation as similar to a hot pin prick or the flick of an elastic band.

How does the skin look after the treatment?

An instant whitening of the skin is seen after the treatment and this fades quickly. The area is tender for several hours and can be red and swollen for up to 48 hours. Some tattoos will form a graze which must be left to heal naturally. The tattoo shall fade over the next 4 to 8 weeks as the body disperses it.

Do I need a consultation?

Yes, prior to treatment you must have a consultation and test patch.

How long will the treatment take?

Treatment times vary depending on the size of the tattoo but generally is between 10 and 30 minutes.

Are there any side effects?

There is a minor risk of hypopigmentation - where the treated area appears paler than the surrounding skin tone. Tanned skin shall not be treated until tan disappears. A full consultation and patch test will minimise the risks.
